“25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery,
lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened
to Israel, until the fulness of the
Gentiles be come in. 26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it
is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away
ungodliness from Jacob: 27 For this is my covenant unto them,
when I shall take away their sins. 28 As concerning the gospel, they
are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are
beloved for the fathers’ sakes. 29 For the gifts and calling of God are
without repentance. 30 For as ye in times past have not believed
God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief: 31 Even so
have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain
mercy. 32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might
have mercy upon all” (Romans 11:25-32).
The Palestinian and
Davidic Covenants were not a mystery
to the Jews. We find them detailed in several
prophetic texts of the Old Testament. The
“mystery” is how “all Israel shall be saved.” This will happen at the very end of the
“times of the Gentiles.” This happens
during the 70th week of Daniel known as the Tribulation. As God judges the Gentile nations for their
persecutions of Jews, He will also miraculously intervene in the world to bring
the Jews to saving faith in Jesus Christ.
Christ spoke of this time in
Luke 21:20-28.
“20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with
armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. 21 Then let
them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the
midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.
22 For these be the days of
vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. 23 But
woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days!
for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. 24
And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away
captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be
fulfilled. 25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the
moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress
of nations, with perplexity; the
sea and the waves roaring; 26 Men’s hearts failing them for fear,
and for looking after those things which
are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. 27 And
then shall they see the Son of man
coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 And when these
things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh” (Luke
21:20-28).
[1] The Palestinian
Covenant is primarily about the
Promised Land of Israel and the David Covenant is primarily about the Lordship of Jesus in the restoration of
dominion to humanity and the deliverance of saved Jews into their Promised Land
under the Federal Headship of Jesus. Part
of the “mystery” is that although Jesus will rule the world from Jerusalem, He
will do so through His new Priesthood
of all faithful Church Age believers. Neither
the Palestinian Covenant nor the David Covenant will be completely fulfilled until the second coming of Jesus Christ at
Armageddon. Therefore, the parabolic
warning of Luke 21:29-36 is primarily to the Jews during the Tribulation (70th
week of Daniel).
“29 And he
spake to them {Jewish believers} a
parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; 30 When they now
shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at
hand. 31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things {described in Luke 21:8-19} come to pass,
know ye that the kingdom of God {the
Davidic Kingdom ruled by Jesus the Christ} is nigh at hand. 32 Verily
I say unto you, This generation {the
saved living at the end of these 7
years} shall not pass away {ever die},
till all be fulfilled {the end of the
Kingdom Age and the creation of the new Heaven/Earth}. 33 Heaven
and earth shall pass away {the
dissolution of the fallen creation}: but my words {His promised regarding eternal life and the New Creation} shall not
pass away. 34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your
hearts be overcharged {weighed down} with
surfeiting {a hangover}, and
drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day {can refer to the day of wrath, which is the
whole 7 year Tribulation, or its culmination in the second coming of Christ}
come upon you unawares. 35 For as a snare {a previously concealed move made to gain
a tactical end} shall it
come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth {but especially those who do not understand
and watch for the mystery because of unbelief}. 36 Watch ye
therefore {because you believe in this
pending reality}, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy {because you have trusted in Christ and have
been ‘born again’} to escape all these things {the judgments of God in the Seven Seals} that shall come to pass,
and to stand before the Son of man {only
those who are ‘born again’ will ‘stand before’ Him in that all others will be
destroyed at His coming}” (Luke 21:29-36).
There is another specific truth that is
part of all of this; “blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the
fulness of the Gentiles be come in” (Romans 11:25). Throughout the Church Age, very few Jews will
be saved. However, clearly this does not
include every Jew. Many Jews have
trusted in Jesus as their Saviour and Messiah throughout the Church Age. The word “blindness” is from the Greek word porosis (po'-ro-sis), which means stupidity or
callousness. The idea is that the
vast majority of Jews would be very hardened in their hearts towards the
Gospel of Jesus Christ and continue to reject or even consider Him as their
Messiah. Jews have been culturally
programmed to resist the Gospel!
The
word “happened” in Romans 11:25 is Perfect Tense and Active Voice. The Perfect Tense describes an action
which is viewed as having been completed in the past, once and for all, not
needing to be repeated. The original
rejection of Jesus as their Messiah by the nation of Israel does not need to be
repeated by every succeeding generation.
This does not mean that individual Jews could not be saved or reached
with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This
was certainly true of the vast majority of the Church recorded in the book of
Acts. Most of them were saved Jews,
including the Apostles. Therefore, no
one should be allowed to say that Jews are a cast away people who are all reprobate before God and of which none
can be saved. Jews can be saved just
like anyone can be saved.
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it
is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew
first, and also to the Greek” (Romans 1:16).
“12 For
there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all
is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call
upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:12-13).
Secondly, God will
one day intervene in some very miraculous ways to bring the Jews out of their
hardness to Jesus Christ and to repentance of their false view of the Messianic
Kingdom and their false view of the Messiah; “until the fulness of the Gentiles {Luke
21:24} be come in,” at which time “all
Israel shall be saved” (Romans 11:26).
God is not going to save “Israel” apart from a faith
decision in the Person and redemptive work of Jesus Christ. The important thing to understand here is
that the “Israel” that will be “saved” is national Israel. God will create a new nation of Israel out of those Jews who repent and trust in the
Person and redemptive work of Jesus Christ during the Tribulation Period along
with glorified Old Testament Jews returning with Jesus at His second coming. God will do this through two miraculous
means:
1. God’s
judgments against the nations
2. Through
the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the miraculous witness of
two resurrected and glorified Old Testament prophets for the last 42 months
(1,260 days or 3½ years) of the Tribulation along with 144,000 glorified Jews
from Heaven.
Before we look at these two means through which God
will bring the vast majority of Jews to saving faith in the Person and redemptive
work of Jesus Christ, we need to understand some things about the 144,000 Jews
that are sealed at about halfway through the Tribulation Period (70th
week of Daniel). Misunderstanding of
this event has created enormous difficulties that must be corrected.
“1 And after
these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth,
holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the
earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. 2 And I saw another angel
ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a
loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the
sea, 3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees,
till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. 4 And
I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an
hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the
children of Israel. 5 Of the tribe of Juda were sealed twelve
thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben were sealed twelve thousand. Of the
tribe of Gad were sealed twelve thousand. 6 Of the tribe of
Aser were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Nepthalim were
sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasses were sealed twelve
thousand. 7 Of the tribe of Simeon were sealed twelve
thousand. Of the tribe of Levi were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe
of Issachar were sealed twelve thousand. 8 Of the tribe of
Zabulon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph were
sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin were sealed twelve
thousand” (Revelation 7:1-8).
Who are these 144,000 Jews,
12,000 from each of the 12 tribes of Israel and where do they come from? Does God simply seal 144,000 unsaved
Jews? Is this sealing simply the
circumcision of 144,000 unsaved Jews (Romans 4:11; “And he {Abraham} received the sign of
circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet
being uncircumcised”)? Is this sealing
the seal of the Holy Spirit as detailed in II Corinthians 1:22 or Ephesians
1:13 and 4:32? According to Revelation
7:3, we are told that these people are “sealed the servants {bondservants} of our God in {epi; lit. upon} their foreheads.” In other words, these 144,000 individual Jews
are marked or stamped with some identifying mark “upon their foreheads” (compare
Exodus 28:36). In Revelation 14:3 we are
told that this seal is the Father’s Name
and there we are given other very specific details about them.
“1 And I
looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and
four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads. 2 And
I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a
great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps: 3 And
they sung as it were a new song before
the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could
learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand,
which were redeemed from the earth. 4 These are they which were not
defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb
whithersoever he goeth. These were
redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.
5 And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault
before the throne of God” (Revelation 14:1-5).
In Revelation 14:1 we are told “a Lamb {the glorified Lord Jesus Christ} stood
on the mount Sion, and with him a hundred forty and four thousand,
having his Father’s name written in their foreheads.” Is this the earthly Mt Zion or the Heavenly
Mt. Zion (Hebrews 12:22-23)? We see in Revelation 14:3 “they sung as it
were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders.” Clearly these are saved Jews who are already
resurrected and glorified who are now before the Throne of God in heaven. These saved Jews were resurrected before the
beginning of the Tribulation (compare Revelation. 4:1 with I Thessalonians 4:16-17).
“22 But ye are
come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, 23
To the general assembly and church
of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all,
and to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24 And to Jesus the
mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better
things than that of Abel. 25 See that ye refuse not him that
speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much
more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh
from heaven: 26 Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath
promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. 27
And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those
things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which
cannot be shaken may remain. 28 Wherefore
we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may
serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: 29 For our
God is a consuming fire” (Hebrews 12:22-29).
I believe this mark,
or seal, is to identify these 144,000
Jews as God’s ordained messengers or Evangelists as a special group of the New Priesthood of all Church Age glorified believers
and their primary purpose is to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the 1,000 year Kingdom Age. These 144,000 sealed Jews are not sealed on earth. Clearly this sealing or marking takes
place in Heaven. They are glorified Jewish
believers “born again” of the Spirit of God who will rule and reign with Christ
during the Kingdom Age.
This is not the same as the resurrection of all
other pre-Pentecost believers commonly referred to as Old Testament believers.
These most probably will not be resurrected until the second coming of
Christ along with the martyred Tribulation believers who were murdered by the
Antichrist. The resurrection of these
Old Testament believers is what Ezekiel 37:1-14 is speaking of. There is no reason to interpret Ezekiel
37:1-14 allegorically. Ezekiel 37:1-14
should be understood to refer to the literal resurrection and glorification of
Old Testament believers.
“1 The hand of
the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me
down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones, 2
And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very
many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry. 3 And
he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD,
thou knowest. 4 Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones,
and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. 5 Thus
saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into
you, and ye shall live: 6 And I will lay sinews upon you, and will
bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye
shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD. 7 So I
prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and
behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone. 8 And
when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin
covered them above: but there was no breath in them. 9 Then
said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the
wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe
upon these slain, that they may live. 10 So I prophesied as he
commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon
their feet, an exceeding great army. 11 Then he said unto me, Son of
man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are
dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts. 12 Therefore
prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I
will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring
you into the land of Israel. 13 And ye shall know that I am
the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out
of your graves, 14 And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall
live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it,
saith the LORD” (Ezekiel 37:1-14).
God will use the horrendous
events of the judgment of the nations in the seven seal judgments revealed in
the book of Revelation to bring the world to faith in Christ (the 7th
Seal is the 7 Trumpet Judgments and the 7 Bowl or Vial Judgments are the 7th
Trumpet Judgment; therefore, all of these Judgments are embodied within the 7
Seal Judgments). The vast majority of
the human populace on planet Earth will refuse to repent of their sin and
unbelief and trust in the finish work of Christ’s substitutionary
redemption. Yet the book of Revelation
tells us that “a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations,
and kindreds, and people, and tongues” will be saved during the
Tribulation. The vast majority of these people
will be martyred. However, there will be
many, of both saved Gentiles and saved Jews, who will survive the Tribulation
and enter the Kingdom Age in physical bodies and who will populate the
worldwide Kingdom of Christ and reproduce during this 1,000 years.
“After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and
kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the
Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands. . . . And I said unto
him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These
are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes,
and made them white in the blood of the Lamb” (Revelation 7:9 and 14).
The great truth is that those who are martyred during the Tribulation
will be resurrected, glorified, and made part of the Church Age priesthood that
will rule and reign with Christ during the Kingdom Age. The means that God will use to bring many
Jews to Christ during the Tribulation is twofold.
1. The
“abomination of desolation” revealing the Antichrist as the false Messiah as he
presents himself as God, which was prophesied in Daniel 9:24-27
2. The two
witnesses miraculous sent by God for the last half of the Tribulation along
with the 144,000 sealed in their foreheads Jews returning to Earth with the two
witnesses.
The vast majority of Jews
are looking for a political Messiah who will usher peace into the Middle
East. These individuals will readily
accept the Antichrist as the Messiah based upon this single criterion. It is as a false Peacemaker that the Antichrist first presents himself in Revelation
6:2 as he arrives on the scene on a “white horse.”
Many Jews will recognize
what the Antichrist does at midway through the Tribulation and understand that
he is the Deceiver. At this same time in history God will send
two miraculous Evangelists preaching that Jesus Christ is the Promised One and
that redemption is found through faith in His finished substitutionary death,
his burial and resurrection, and that Jesus is soon to come again in full glory
to fulfilled both the Palestinian and Davidic Covenants.
“1
And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood,
saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God {the rebuilt Tribulation Temple, this
is not the Millennial Temple}, and the altar, and them that worship
therein. 2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and
measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they
tread under foot forty and two
months. 3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses,
and they shall prophesy a thousand two
hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. 4 These are the two olive trees, and the two
candlesticks standing before the God of the earth. 5 And if any
man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their
enemies: and if any man will hurt them {by
whatever method they try to use to kill them}, he {the perpetrator} must in this manner be killed. 6 These
have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and
have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all
plagues, as often as they will. 7 And when they shall have finished
their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make
war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. 8 And
their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which
spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. 9
And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see
their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead
bodies to be put in graves. 10 And they that dwell upon the earth
shall rejoice over them {their death},
and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets
tormented them that dwelt on the earth. 11 And after three days and
an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon
their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them. 12 And
they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they
ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them. 13 And
the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city {of Jerusalem; this may also be the destruction of the Tribulation Temple that the
Antichrist took control of at the
time of the ‘abomination that made desolate’} fell, and in the earthquake
were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant {that were not killed} were affrighted, and gave glory {perhaps signifying repentance and faith in
Christ} to the God of heaven” (Revelation 11:3-13).
Thousands upon thousands of Jews will be led to faith in Jesus as their Messiah by the witness of these two unstoppable Evangelist. The Jews of the Tribulation will recognize that these two Evangelists are the “two olive trees, and the two candlesticks” prophesied by Zechariah and reject the Antichrist as their Messiah.
“1
And the angel that talked with me came again, and waked me, as a man that
is wakened out of his sleep, 2 And said unto me, What seest thou? And
I said, I have looked, and behold a candlestick all of gold, with a bowl
upon the top of it, and his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven
lamps, which are upon the top thereof: 3 And two olive trees
by it, one upon the right side of the bowl, and the other upon the left side
thereof. 4 So I answered and spake to the angel that talked with me,
saying, What are these, my lord? 5 Then the angel that talked
with me answered and said unto me, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said,
No, my lord. 6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is
the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but
by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts. 7 Who art thou, O
great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he
shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying,
Grace, grace unto it. 8 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me,
saying, 9 The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this
house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the LORD of
hosts hath sent me unto you. 10 For who hath despised the day of
small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of
Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the LORD, which
run to and fro through the whole earth. 11 Then answered I, and said
unto him, What are these two olive trees upon the right side of
the candlestick and upon the left side thereof? 12 And I
answered again, and said unto him, What be these two olive branches
which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of
themselves? 13 And he answered me and said, Knowest thou not what
these be? And I said, No, my lord. 14 Then said he, These are
the two anointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth” (Zechariah 4:1-14).
The significance regarding these
two witnesses is that God reveals to Zerubbabel through Zechariah, that God’s
Temple will not be restored by a large military power (“might”), or by some
outstanding charismatic and influential leader (“power”), but that the
restoration of the Temple would be a spiritual restoration that could only be
accomplished by the Holy Spirit. This
restoration was a physical picture of spiritual revival of the nation of
Israel. The accomplished restoration was
not the revival itself, but the product of that revival.
These
two witnesses are how God will accomplish this revival. The two olive trees represent these two men,
full of the Holy Spirit and with unlimited resources. They are also the two “candlesticks” (“Lampstands”)
as they are the heralds of God’s truth in the power of His Holy Spirit.
After the
second coming of Jesus Christ in glory, national Israel will be made up of only
of saved Jews. Every other person on
planet earth that is still alive at the end of the Tribulation and who has not
repented and trusted in the Person and redemptive work of the Lord Jesus Christ
will be destroyed at His coming in glory.
Only “born again” people still living after the second coming of Jesus
Christ will enter into the Kingdom Age.
“1 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy
spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. 2 For I will gather all
nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the
houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into
captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. 3
Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he
fought in the day of battle. 4 And his feet shall stand in that day
upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the
mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward
the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the
mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. 5
And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley
of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled
from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my
God shall come, and all the saints with thee. 6 And it shall
come to pass in that day, that the light shall not be clear, nor
dark: 7 But it shall be one day which shall be known to the LORD,
not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it
shall be light. . . . 12 And this shall be the plague wherewith the
LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they
stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and
their tongue shall consume away in their mouth. 13 And it shall come
to pass in that day, that a great tumult from the LORD shall be among
them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his
hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour. 14 And
Judah also shall fight at Jerusalem; and the wealth of all the heathen round
about shall be gathered together, gold, and silver, and apparel, in great
abundance. 15 And so shall be the plague of the horse, of the mule,
of the camel, and of the ass, and of all the beasts that shall be in these
tents, as this plague” (Zechariah 14:1-7 & 12-15).
Revelation
19:11-21 tells us that this smiting of the nations will take place as Jesus Christ
enters back into the realm of the material earth from Heaven. Although this is often referred to as the
battle of Armageddon, the enemies of national Israel are the enemies of God and
the glory of the presence of the incarnate Word (“a sharp sword,” Rev. 19:13)
will destroy them all in a moment of time.
“11
And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon
him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and
make war. 12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his
head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but
he himself. 13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in
blood: and his name is called The Word of God. 14 And the
armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in
fine linen, white and clean. 15 And out of his mouth goeth a
sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule
them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and
wrath of Almighty God. 16 And he hath on his vesture and
on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. 17 And
I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to
all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves
together unto the supper of the great God; 18 That ye may eat the
flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the
flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men,
both free and bond, both small and great. 19 And I saw the
beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make
war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. 20 And
the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles
before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the
beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a
lake of fire burning with brimstone. 21 And the remnant were
slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword
proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh”
(Revelation 19:11-21).
